Family Time With The Browns

I got up at 5:30am to drive to GA with my dad yesterday morning.
We were going to my grandpa's brother's funeral; He was my great uncle.
I really don't remember much of him, but going to the funeral I got to hear a lot about Hoyt Brown, and he sounded like a really nice man that I would loved to have known better. He was a Christ follower; a believer in Jesus; a man of God and that is must be such  a comfort to the people closest to him.

I really enjoyed seeing my family.
The Browns (and a Harrelson) are so much fun!
My dad drove to the Columbia Mall where we met Dennis (my uncle) and Kim (my aunt).
We then drove from there to my grandparents' (my dad's mom and dad) house.
I  really enjoyed talking to Mot and Popa. I love them, and they are so sweet together!  They still both love and enjoy each other so so much!

I got to see Linda and Eddie Ray too.
I absolutely love them!
Linda is one of the sweetest people I know!
She reminds me so much of my little sister Nona. They both have sweet spirits and are such happy people,
and I adore Eddie Ray!
I'm so thankful Linda and Eddie Ray got married! If they didn't I might not even know him!
He's one of my most favorite people.
Our drive to GA was nothing close to boring!
Kim is so funny, and I've never met anyone who has as many funny stories, and who is so willing to share them all.
Anyone who knows my dad will tell you he's a very funny person, and his big brother  Dennis is extemely funny as well!
I think he, maybe, has an extra section in his head that's just for pure clever funniness!
Dennis said that whole day that he wanted to take me to go to get a hot dog at "skins".
So, on our way home we went by for some of the best hot dogs I've ever eaten!

There were pictures all over the place, but these two were my favorite!

I thought they were both pretty funny.

Here I am obeying the sign, but really the verse below is my motivation.

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart

be acceptable in your sight, O Lord my rock and redeemer.

Psalm 19:14

I'm going to go read my bible now.
I'm  reading through the bible in 90 days and I'm really enjoying it!

Wednesdays

I adore Wednesdays!
When I was younger I thought it was the worst day of the week.
I mean, it is right in the middle of the week, right?
Although now that I think about it, it's not even in the middle!
Well, I mean sorta, but it's just one big loop to me anyway.

I remember when I was probably 10 this teenage boy told me that Wednesdays were bad because they were in the middle of the week.
I guess I just believed it.

Wednesdays are our busy day.
First Kamryn and Nona have their ballet and tap classes, and that's in the morning.
It's on the other side of town so we spend the rest of our morning/afternoon running errands and shopping. Stuff like that.

After that, we come home and take Cason to swim practice.

Then we have tutoring with our church.
I love that!
I tutor two little boys in... handwriting... has anyone here ever seen my handwriting?? It's ok though because they're 2nd grade, so I think I handle it pretty well. One little boy's name is Peter and the other is CJ, and they are so funny and cute!
It's really just a lot of fun to meet new people, and then help their kids with subjects that aren't their best.
It's kind of funny to me because the kids that come in are smarter than any kids I've ever met.
I think maybe their perents just want them to not only be ahead, but WAY ahead! hehe

Once we leave tutoring Kimmi and I go to ballet.
That's later in the afternoon. It's becoming a little more fun. :)

And on top of all this, I have my sweet grandparents in town! My mom's momma and daddy.

Altogether, Wednesdays are fun because I get to see people I don't get to see everyday. Even if it is the middle of the week! ;D
Here are a few pictures from our day.

Hope everyone is having a good
Wednesday!

Good Bye 2009!

Well, this is my last post for the year 2009!!
It went by so extremely fast!
I think almost too fast, but I like that I'm getting older and, hopefully, wiser. ;D

We ended off our amazing 2009 with an oyster roast at our friends family's church.
We first had a church service, and then we went outside for some fun and food.
I really enjoyed talking to, and meeting, new people... country people are so nice!!
It was a lot of fun, and I'm so proud, and blessed, to be a member of a big family with amazing, God fearing parents!
When we went into the sanctuary, for the service, we took up a whole row of seats, and we just, I think, really stood out... alot.
It was so funny because when the church service was over, and everyone was still patiently, and quietly, sitting in their seats, a man stood up and announced the congregation, "Uuuuumm, someone left their light on in their van... it's a big van... a 15 passenger van..."
Now who could that beeee? ;)
We knew it was us right off the bat, so, with out even asking dad if the van was ours, Cole ran out and turned them off.
Love that boy!

It sounds like a war zone outside, and so I think I'm about to go watch some neighbors shoot fireworks. :)
I hope you all have a very blessed 2010!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Congratulations Tyler

Congratulations Tyler!!!

Today, my cousin, Tyler had his Charleston School of Law graduation.
I have a Lawyer cousin now! :D
It was Downtown Charleston, and I love spending time downtown!
And who better to spend it with than the Eddie Ray and Linda Brown family?
It was all so much fun, and I'm so glad I got to be a part of it!
After the reception we went to a restaurant called  Fleet Landing. It was probably one of the neatest restaurants I've ever been to, and the view was stunning!

You could see Fort Sumter way off in the distance.
Anyway, the day was a lot of fun, and we're all so proud of Tyler for all his accomplishments!

(Tyler, Linda and EddieRay)

Ok, I'm sure you are all noticing the bad quality of  this picture , so let me explain why it's so fuzzy.
About two weeks ago I found my camera in the washing machine.... I guess the person who does the laundry (I'm not going to say her name because I don't want to be talking bad about her, but I'll give you a hint... she has 8 kids, she's sweet and fun to be around, and her name starts with a D and it ends with an onna.... but again, I'm not going to mention any names so that I won't  make anyone feel bad.
Anyway, I'm guessing this person thought it was a little dirty so she washed it.
I'm just telling you all this so from here on out you'll look at the pictures I put on my blog and instead of saying, "Wow, would you look at the bad quality of that picture!" You'll now say, "Wow, can you believe the great quality of that picture  even after being washed!"

Hope every one is well and having a good Sunday!

♥ Alston and Marina Brown ♥

This is my cousin, Alston, and his beautiful new wife Marina.
I didn't have a picture of the new Brown family on their wedding day so I "took" this one from my cousin Jenna's blog. She's has an amazing eye for photography!
Alston and Marina were married on the 14th and it was so  much fun to experience a Greek wedding. It was intriguing to see how much tradition they have held on to. It actually makes me realize how much tradition we lack!
It was so sweet and we're all so excited to have Marina in our fam!

My moma is so pretty, and I just have to say I have one cutie of a brother, too, who was also an usher!

My handsome daddy and me!

Here's the wedding cake!
Juuuust kidding. This was the grooms cake at the rehearsal dinner.
It fit the theme of the rehearsal dinner perfectly because Alston's an outdoorsman.
The duck is made of rice crispy treats. The cake was one layer of strawberry and one layer lemon, and the big hunka wood was made from... a tree! It would take the team of Cake Boss people to make cake look like a tree. heeheehe

I know this is so blurry, but I love this picture! There was lots of dancing at this wedding. The people who were Greek were so much fun to watch! They had so many different dances and they would all get together in a circle, and they all looked like they had done it before!
We didn't do any of the the Greek dances, but we did a little American dance'n... like the macaraina, and the electric slide...

Here's Mot and Nona.
We literally had to take about 7 because Nona wanted so much to have a picture with her tongue sticking out or looking crosseyed or whatever she was doing.

Here's the wedding cake. Prettier than the grooms cake if you ask me. ;)

Here's my dad and Dennis. Jenna's daddy and my dad's big brother. They were standing in front of the church. I would have taken pictures of the beautiful stained glass art inside the church the, amazingly, huge painting of Jesus on the top of the ceiling, but there was no flash photography allowed inside.

Here's dad and Kimmi. I love this picture of Kimmi. So pretty.

The wedding was so much fun and really sweet!
Congratulations Alston and Marina!
 Love you guys so much!

• Baby Curls & Block Parties •

I had some oh so adorable pictures of Jessie up yesterday, but this morning, I took them off because my mom thought she looked nasty... she did.. but she was such a cute looking nasty  baby! My mom said I should just put some pictures of her all dressed  and pretty.
She had jelly all over her face, and she was only in a diaper.
These pics were taken a few Sunday ago, and she was wearing the same dress but one looks purple and one looks blue... or is that just me?

I love this one because it really shows off her baby curls! SO SWEET!
•••
I'm getting excited because I'm just about to go get on my costume. I haven't dressed up for halloween since I was probably 12, but our family, and Emily my friend, will be going to a block party in about an hour.
I'm going to be Esmerelda from the Hunchback of Notredame, and Cason's going to be Quazimoto. You know... the hunch back. haha... It cracks me up thinking about him dressing up as Quazimoto!
Cason's so sweet!!!
Now how many bigger younger brothers would dress up for their sister? I'm really not sure, but Cason is one of them! =D
I'll post pictures of everyone's costume's later.
Hope every one is having a really great day! =)

• Race'n For The Cure! •

We did it! We ran the 5k for the cure!
I was going to run it by myself, but at the very last minute Cason, my amazingly athletic little brother, decided to come with me because when I started thinking about being dropped off all by myself it started bothering me.
So after I signed up for the race yesterday, we went and picked Cason up from swim team, and then, with no hesitation, Cason decided to run with me. We drove all the way back with juuuust enough time to sign him up as well.
I knew he would pass me in the race, but I was totally fine with that. It was better than going alone! There were around 6,000 very pink people running and walking.
It was so much fun to see all the very spirited people doing the 5k.
So many people spray painted their hair pink. The boys were just as pink as the girls.
So, I finished the race in 32:34, and Cason finished in about 19:30. Can you believe that?!? He is fast, and I'm so proud he's my brother!!! I had so much fun spending the morning just him and me.
I didn't have a great race time, but I'm proud because I didn't stop!
I have sports induced asthma, and it flaired up during the race today. I have trouble breathing when I'm  in a race, but I haven't had a race in a while, and it only takes me a few minutes to get over it and it's never too bad. When I start feeling like I can't get air it's always pretty close to the finish line. It usually starts when there's only a mile or so left, and I never stop running even though it is a little scary.  It seems like it's gotten worse over the year though.
I'm going to the doctor to get a diagnosis and an inhaler (Iguess) next week because I will never stop or even slow down in a race and I'm thinking about entering another race soon.
5Ks are so much fun, and Cason made it fun-er!

• Drivers Ed. •

Well, I did it. I have completed Drivers Education! I am now educated in the art of driving a car! I took an eight hour class and I had three two hour sessions driving with an instructor.
I now know lots of interesting facts about driving, but I still can't drive squat!
The last guy I drove with, the most awkward person on this planet, said "Now, you aren't a bad driver, you're just too slow, and you don't execute like you should, and I can tell you're  nervous while driving, and we still need to work on parallel parking and six point turns more, but you're not bad, and here's your certificate. Good Job Karis!"
Okay people, those all seem like qualities of a bad driver, BUT I got my certificate, and I can now go get my drivers license! hehehee
I'll probably be doing more driving with my parents now. ;)

Here's the A-DORE-A-BLE little car I drove.

Hope you are all having a blessed day!
